ABOUT

I am a writer, language teacher and independent publisher living in the West of Ireland. I have written for as long as I remember; diaries, poetry, short stories, novels, blogs - it is something I do as naturally as breathing or eating. I write because I have things to say, and I need a way to get them out into the world.

In 2016 I published my first novel (though I had written a few before then). The novel was called A Year in Lisbon (website here). It has been an adventure since then that has taken me back to Portugal, where I used to live, to promote and talk about the book, and the whole experience has allowed me to start thinking of myself as a writer; something I had been reluctant to do before then.

I have mostly written my next novel - tentatively entitled Be Do Go Have - and hope to publish it later on this year.

I am also a language teacher, and have been teaching languages - English, Spanish and Portuguese - for over half my life. I have been involved in organizing a small but vibrant cultural organization - Sligo Spanish Society - for the last decade, and the speaking, learning and teaching of languages is a central part of my life.
